WEEKLY ROUNDUP

Well, a bit of a manic week last week. Most of it was spent anticipating and wetting my pants over the release of Mass Effect 3 which after 2 days spent in my room playing, I have decided that it is without a doubt the best gaming series full stop. Anyhoo, its about time I actually start work again so, lets take a look at the tech news that did NOT involve the new iPad which also means that inevitably,  it flew by unnoticed last week.

SAMSUNG RELEASE ICE CREAM SANDWICH ROLLOUT FOR GALAXY S II
There was a lot of confusion regarding Samsung's Ice Cream Sandwich updates to its beloved Galaxy S2 range of handsets due to Samsung's god awful miscommunication. They tweeted a release date for ICS and then revoked the date saying it was a mistake. Then, over the weekend, Korea, Sweden, Poland and Hungary officially had their update but what about good old Great Britain? Well, Samsung UK have officially pencilled in a 4.0 release date for all UK Galaxy S2's on March 19th. This means in a weeks time, you'll be getting that lovely Ice Cream Sandwich software on your Galaxy device which will only make it even greater than it is now. Be warned however, as Samsung say the date is still dependent on each network as they need to test and approve it first so it may be a while longer for people who didn't buy their phones SIM free.

SONY LOVE XPERIA GINGERBREAD PHONES
Not phased by the negative reaction towards their flagship mobile phone, The Xperia S, Sony have unveiled yet another Xperia phone called the Xperia Sola. This handset looks similar to the new Xperia family minus the transparent bar at the bottom of the device. Feature wise, it has a 1ghz dual core processor, 3.7 inch Reality display with Bravia engine, 5 megapixel camera and 1080p video recording. Also, although the masses are crying out for Ice Cream Sandwich, what have Sony done? Thats right, they've powered it with Gingerbread instead! It does fit into the Xperia family despite being shown off later as it has NFC tag support, mobile BRAVIA image processing and has all of Sony's Entertainment Network apps included. Sony's key selling point with this handset is called the 'Floating Touch' navigation display. Basically, you can navigate and highlight links and other content without touching the screen and by floating your finger over the link, then tap to open. Useless feature of the year anyone?

HTC'S UK ONLINE STORE LETS YOU GET READY FOR THE ONE SERIES EARLY
HTC set all tech lovers tails wagging when they announced their beautiful new One series of handsets at this years Mobile World Congress. Although theres little under a month to go until the handsets are released, HTC's UK website lets you go on and start snapping up accessories now. Theres a whole host of docks, screen protectors, chargers, cases and car kits that already appear to be selling out. So if you're a citizen who resides in Her Majesty's kingdom and are 100% sure you want one of the new HTC devices, I would get on to HTC's website fast and get prepared!

NEW GAME OF THRONES TRAILER
Its not long to go until we see the Stark family (minus Ned, WHHHHHHHYYY!!??) and others battling it out politically and physically. The first season was just stunning and the second season is touted to be even better. With so much at stake, the dragons born and the Winter on its way, lets just say, things get even messier. If you can't wait here's a new trailer which see's Joffrey's mother slap his stupid face! I know you would want to see that on repeat! Im so good to you.

Oh yeah there was also a little thing about a new iPad being announced last week. I thought i'd better not mention that as last wednesday, Technically Funny looked like an Apple reseller website due to Apple news being plastered all over it. Thats the price we pay for tech journalism Im afraid!
